perhaps you recall the instance in the bible where samson made a wager with the philistines that they couldnt guess his riddle.
as it turned out they wheedled the answer out of him by his fiancee, but the point is that they had a wager.
since the underlying assumption of the apostasy is that we are not living in the last days of this system of things, and that this world is not facing anything remotely like the biblical apocalypse, at least not any time soon, in the spirit of such antagonism, i would like to propose a similar wager.

well, i'm finally reading coc, and i must tell you that despite already being an ex-dub i was *shocked*.
the thing that got me was the gb's apparently unselfconsciously acting above all the rules that they would apply so harshly to everyone else.
maybe i'm naive, but i didn't expect that level of hypocrisy.. so what did you find most shocking in coc?
Hey Fred..
3 more posts and you will have 1914.
Should I be scared of the outcome?
Make post 1914 count for a change.
i have noticed in a few posts lately that there have been negative articles concerning being owned by pets.
the only bound volumes i have are 1991 through 1995 and the only things i can find in the index are a few snippets in watching the world except for an article in the 1/22/93 awake which was quite possitive.. the negatives that i read are that pets take time and money away from service to our dearly beloved printing society.
can anyone give me some quotes?
I happened to find this article too..
*** g09 6/8 18-20 Can You Really Care for a Baby? ***
"Not all adults consider the consequences of accepting another “member” into the family. They do not always foresee the inconveniences and responsibilities that a baby can bring. This may especially be true of Jehovah’s Witnesses, who lead such busy lives in their Christian ministry and are often away attending meetings and Christian conventions. Then the problem of finding someone to care for the kids arises. Certainly, it would not be appropriate to miss Christian activities because of an overly sentimental attachment to offspring.—Hebrews 10:24, 25.
Hence, anyone who really wants a child should consider whether he is willing to make the daily sacrifices necessary for a healthy child. Does he have the facilities for proper care and attention? And remember, kids eat and big kids eat a lot! That can make quite a dent in your pocketbook—yet another factor to take into account. Children do get sick, and medical costs may take you by surprise.
Another factor is hygiene. The tongue of many babies is also their washcloth, which they use for all parts of their body! While adults are equipped to handle the germs that they ingest, children may not be. So do not encourage your kid to kiss. Even allowing a kid to lick your face and hands may expose the kid to health problems, possibly including worms. When it happens, washing with soap and water at once may prevent infection. kids should have their own feeding dishes and should not be allowed to lick plates used by adults. Kids can bring fleas and other “undesirables” into the home. Some owners of kids wisely do not allow them in their houses."
how many of you guys really believed and took to heart every word that was written in it?
i was recently rereading it and it was ridiculous how sophomoric and unrealistic some of the answers to the questions were (e.g.
when you have the urge to engage in the "sin" of masterbation you should pray to god untill the urge goes away.

who survived..."1975"...,i`m just curious, how many of us,are there?those of us that lived though this, will know what i mean.
I was 6 at the time.
One vivid memory was moving day
in Nov. of '74.
Mom and Dad sold the house
and we moved 10 bolocks away
and rented a similar house.
I recall a sister putting me
in the back of her car and
leaving the home that my
parents bought for $14,000
in '68.
My parents were suckers for the
'75 propaganda.
